A morning performance will take place at 10:00 a.m. for the following classes: Mrs. Kim, Mr. Nudelman, Mrs. Rothschild, and Ms. Schack. An afternoon performance will take place at 1:30 p.m. for the following classes: Ms. Amaden, Mrs. Brown, Ms. McNally, and Mrs. Obediah-Berlin. The students have enjoyed learning music, dances, and games from around the world to help celebrate our school-wide theme of growing together. We look forward to having you join us.

Author Visit

Thanks to the generosity of our Henking PTA, Thyra Heder, award-winning children’s book author & illustrator will be at Henking School on Thursday March 12th.  She will be making presentations and getting the kids excited about children’s literature, writing, illustrating and the creative process as well as autographing her books.

Let the voting begin...

Starting this week, Mon. Feb. 3rd - Fri. Feb. 7th will be the designated days for the Monarch Book Awards voting for all Henking students... just click on the link to access the online ballot. Students need to have read or listened to 5 of the nominated books to be eligible to vote.

And the winner is…

The Monarch Award nominees have been announced and it is time for our Henking K - 2nd graders to read and deliberate their choices for the winner of the MonarchBook Award for 2020. The Monarch Award: Illinois’ K-3 Children's Choice Award is presented annually to the author and/or illustrator of the book voted as their favorite by students in kindergarten through grade three in participating Illinois schools or public libraries. The Monarch is sponsored by the Association of Illinois School Library Educators (AISLE) and it is designed to encourage children to read critically and become familiar with children's books, authors and illustrators. Each child needs to have read or heard at least 5 of the 20 nominated titles in order to be allowed to vote.  Students have already been listening to titles from the nominated list in the LRC. The online voting will begin the week of Feb. 3rd.
This should be an exciting opportunity for our students to enjoy some quality literature and have the chance to make a difference in an author’s/illustrator’s career!
