Board Action: Masks Optional But Recommended Beginning February 28

At last night’s meeting, the Board of Education approved a resolution to update the District’s COVID mitigation plan to move to an environment that strongly recommends but does not require mask wearing in school buildings on Monday, February 28. That resolution directs the administration to update the District’s COVID mitigation plan as a result. You can watch a recording of the meeting here

It is important to note that:

  • Until February 28 (for the next seven school days), masks remain required in our schools.

  • If the temporary restraining order issued on Friday, February 4 is stayed or reversed by a higher court, the District will return to a mask-mandatory environment as long as that ruling remains lawfully in place.

  • Masks will remain mandatory on school buses in compliance with the federal mandate for masks on public transportation.

  • Students or staff returning after a 5-day exclusion due to a positive COVID test must wear a mask for days 6-10.
